The Cookery Bistro is a small Kanata restaurant that opened it's doors in 2010 in the Kakulu Medical building. Why a medical building? Because it fit the vision.
After years of owning and working in busy kitchens we decided to venture out on our own. The mission was to fill the need for a gourmet takeaway breakfast or lunch restaurant in the Kanata area. Being in a medical building we felt fit our vision because we wanted to offer delicious, healthy, gourmet, fresh food that was easily accessible. The state of the Kanata area restaurants in 2010 was very highly processed and unhealthy and since then food landscape has highly changed with people caring about what they are eating now. People now ask whats in the food they are eating, where it came from and how it was made. It comes with great pride that since we do almost everything in house we can answer all of those questions and then some.
We offer gourmet soups like this French Onion soup served with a brie crostini that is prepared right before we serve you the soup. If you have a dairy or gluten allergy you can simply enjoy the soup without the crostini. Our soups change every week during the fall and winter and you can find out what we are serving up by following us on Instagram.
We are probably best known for our sandwiches which combine various gourmet flavours to create these delicious handheld foods. Creations like the Pig and Fig, combine sweet (home made) fig compote with smoked ham, thick cuts of brie, cracked pepper, and fresh greens.

In 2014 we decided to offer Kanata catering options for their office lunch, parties and get togethers. Our catering menu changes seasonally and the up to date menu can be viewed here. From simple lunch catering boxes to perfectly styled dinner catering we can create a meal that will impress your guests while leaving you time to do everything else.
In the summer you can also come enjoy our patio with seating for 12 and just enough shade. We hope to see you soon!
